Hi, I’m Geeta. I love hiking and travelling. Earlier, I used to think of travelling as a luxury and being a student you basically cannot afford to travel. But after COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown, I explored a few YouTube travel channels and I was fascinated by it. I also learned from these YouTube channels that you can plan a trip on a budget if you do proper planning and research.

Mardi Himal Trek is my first ever trekking experience. I began my trekking journey in April 2022. So, if anyone out there wants to start trekking but is nervous about where and how to start. It is never too late to start something new. So, stay calm and plan your itinerary accordingly.

To begin with, you may start from a day hike to a couple of days trek with your sibling or friends until you are confident enough to trek solo. This way you can learn and experience new cultures and listen to different perspectives of life and people in general.

Are you a travel enthusiast?

If yes, this blog is for you as I have tried my best to pen down memories of my trekking journey.

For those who love to travel, taking trips is a way of life rather than just an occasional getaway. They save and plan with great care, always thinking about the next expedition. For them, every experience offers a lesson or a tale just waiting to be told, and the world serves as an endless school.

There are plenty of places in Nepal where you can either choose to commute in the city areas by vehicle or walk to the Himalayas or hills on foot. Both ways travelling is fun as we can explore the local culture and lifestyle of people. We can become more open-minded towards new cultures and in a way, it helps to build relationships and peace among people from different parts of the world.

Basically, Travelling works as a therapy for me to get out of my mundane routine life and enjoy nature walks as much as I can. This helps to recharge and clear my head/reset whenever I have any doubts about or dilemmas that have been bothering me for a long time.

Over the past year, I have learnt many things from my travels. We live a city life where we are privileged with many facilities but we tend to whine and complain about many things.

As I trek through the rural part of Nepal, People are living a simple lifestyle where even basic needs such as food and shelter are not easily accessible. Still, they are happy, warm and welcoming. Such an innocent gesture gives a sense of contentment.

Travelling is important for mental growth and human happiness

Sometimes, I often wonder where are we heading in terms of human-to-human connection or warmth that we miss in urban life. We are so much into social media and technology that we have forgotten to appreciate our loved one’s presence in our lives. The emotional, spiritual and mental aspect of the communication is somewhat missing.

For those who love to travel, meeting new people is just as important as the destinations they see. They treasure the relationships they make while travelling, creating lifelong friendships with locals and other tourists.

Travelling is crucial as it helps you to re-evaluate your life from a different perspective. Life can be harsh sometimes but you are not alone in this journey. We all go through some emotional or mental breakdown but as we travel and see people smiling in spite of so much hardship in their life gives joy and hope in life.

Travelling helps you to know yourself better and it teaches you patience. In a way, it makes you a proper planner and accepts the flaws that life offers you. So, go travel and explore yourselves and know yourself better.
