How to go to Phulchowki?

You may either take a microvan or hire a taxi from Satdobato or Lagankhel to Godawari where your hike officially begins. After walking for about 5 to 10 minutes, you’ll see Nau Dhara where you’ll notice nine taps and a temple that holds great religious significance for the local people. The devotees often come to worship there now and then.

Features of Phulchowki hike

The Phulchowki hike can be quite lengthy if you take the road. Though there is a shortcut from Nau Dhara, the path can be quite challenging if it is your very first time walking into the woods. So if you are a beginner, always choose the longer route that is, via road. This way you may not lose the path and for safety purposes, roadway is recommended especially if it is your first time.

The beauty of the Phulchowki hike is that you get to encounter a wide variety of flora and fauna there. Throughout the hike, you get to experience the chirping of rare species of birds and get connected to nature and its serenity while enjoying the nature walk through the lush forest filled with the aroma of pine trees. The sound of rustling leaves sets the mood for the adventure ahead as we make our way through the forest’s emerald pathways.

Besides, if you plan to hike during March and April you can experience colorful rhododendrons throughout the trail. The scenery opens up more as we get higher. Phulchowki lies at 2762 metres which provides a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks such as Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar. After summiting the Phulchowki, we’re rewarded with breathtaking views.

There is a tower and army barracks at the top of the Pulchowki where you can rest, have some snacks, and capture the breathtaking moments. The weather gets chilly pretty early at the top so it would be a wise decision to descend before it gets dark. It takes around 4 hours to ascend and 2 and a half to descend back.

There is a small tea house at the top so carry some snacks and plenty of water to stay hydrated. Do not expect fancy restaurant and hotels at the top. This is just a day hike where we ascend, enjoy the view and descend back to where we started.
