Are you thinking of a place to chill out and have fun?

For me, it’s usually Pokhara whether it be 3 days holiday or a week-long vacation. You can never get bored of this so-called magical city of Pokhara which has music, tranquility, adventure, natural beauty, and cultural and religious places all in a single frame. Let’s delve into six things you can do in Pokhara.

Main Attractions of Pokhara

Phewa Lake:

Most travelers stay on the lakeside. It is famous for its beautiful tranquil lake called Phewa Lake, and you have more options for hotels and hostels to stay in for your vacation. You can enjoy the serenity of the beautiful lake by taking a boat ride or taking a walk through the lake. You cannot miss a boat ride once you reach the lake. You have plenty of options for it. You can either take a short boat ride to Taal Barahi Temple or hire a boat for an hour or more depending on your convenience. There are plenty of dining options too. You can hop into restaurants and try different cuisines from local to international as per your choice and taste palate. Phewa Lake is more than just a place to go; it’s a haven where the soul can find peace among the imposing mountains and the tranquil waters. You can also visit Peace Pagoda once you visit the Phewa lake.

Begnas Lake:

Most people go for Phewa Lake as more things are happening and there are all the facilities and luxuries that one desires. But my personal favorite is Begnas Lake though it is quite laid back. Begnas Lake is much cleaner and the area is less populated. The area is surrounded by green hills and tranquil nature which is breathtaking. We started our exploration by taking a quick boat ride. We could see calmness in the flowing water and the water sparkled in the warm rays of the sun. After a boat ride, we wandered around for a food hunt and then came across the Thakali set which was mouth-watering and I can’t describe the taste in words. As evening approached, we found bliss and solace in nature walking around the lake.

Sarankot:

Whenever you visit Pokhara, Sarankot is a must-visit place as you get to witness amazing sunrise and sunsets here. Sarankot is just a short drive from Pokhara. As we reached the summit, we were awestruck by the panoramic vista of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges. We’re fortunate to see the clear view of the mountain ranges and when the first ray of sunlight hit the peak it was a visual treat as we could not believe that such a moment exists.

Gateway to Amazing Trekking Trails

Pokhara serves as a gateway to amazing trekking trails such as Mardi Himal, and Annapurna Base Camp. Those seeking adventure can enjoy the trekking from Pokhara. Besides, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of Gandruk village if you are looking for a place for a staycation with your family and friends. You can also get a glimpse of the local Gurung community there and get a chance to experience the Gurung customs along with their local cuisine.

Explore Paragliding and Zip-lining

Apart from trekking adventures, visitors can opt for paragliding and ziplining. The tour company arranges the paragliding packages along with transportation. Anyone who enjoys such adventure can easily find paragliding and zip-lining around the Sarankot area. The service may not be available in all weather since both sports greatly depend upon the weather conditions. So considering the weather conditions and safety of the passenger one can try this adventure.

Lakeside is known for its natural beauty, markets, and warm hospitality. I’m always fascinated by this charming and vibrant city as it always has something more to offer especially the nightlife. We can buy souvenirs from the lakeside area be it handicraft material or pashmina shawls. You can also stroll around the lakeside area to enjoy the cultural events.
