Factors to consider while planning a trip

The first step whenever we make any travel plan is by choosing the destination based on the duration, and the level of difficulty. Some treks can be of short duration such as 5 days to longer days which may take around two to three weeks. Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Poonhill Trek, and Mardi Himal Trek, Khumai dada trek, Kori trek are the short treks whereas Annapurna Circuit Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Gokyo Lake Trek are some of the longer treks.

The level of difficulty of the trek depends upon the geography, landscape, and duration of the trek. The other important aspect of planning any trek is to collect authentic information about the trek from guidebooks, online resources, and fellow trekkers’ experiences depending upon your preference.

The second aspect of travel is to be clear about the purpose of your trip. Some of us love walking adventures and mountains and thus can pursue treks and those of us who love exploring different local cultures and traditions can pursue luxurious travel be it Lumbini, Chitwan.

Besides that, we should be well prepared physically and mentally for the trip. I suggest getting into some fitness or walking habits before planning a trek in Nepal as you may end up getting injured if you are not into any kind of physical activity. So it would be a wise decision if you get into hiking, or involve yourself in cardiovascular exercise and strength training.

Mental fitness is equally important as physical fitness. Anyone should have a positive mindset and be flexible enough to adapt to the unpredictable weather conditions during the trek. Planning an itinerary is equally important for the trek. Accordingly, you need to plan accommodation, transportation, and essential gear before making any expedition.

Packing is another important aspect of traveling. It is important to pack wisely to make a hassle-free and smooth travel plan. Bags should be kept as light as possible and stuffed with essential things such as energy bars, windproof jackets, hiking boots, water purification tablets, first aid kits, and raincoats to protect oneself against rain, snow, and cold.

As health is the most important aspect especially you need to be extra careful while travelling. So, make sure to drink enough water and stick to your itinerary. Some of us try to be over ambitious and try to compete the trek in a hurry which is not good. We travel to relax and spend time in nature with the flora and fauna and make memories for a lifetime. Apart from that, we should respect the people and their culture, environment and adapt with the change accordingly.

So, do not panic. Sometimes we may face unfortunate circumstances but we can get through it with the help of our trekking buddies and friendly locals. So, donot hesitate to take risk but try to explore and capture the moment and share your travel stories with the loved ones.

It is said that life is too short to be lived at one place; so why not explore and make memories that lasts a lifetime. So take a step further and I would like to encourage everyone reading this blog to travel at least once in a lifetime, this way we can grow as a person and develop perspectives and build bonding with beautiful people on our path.
